Experience
I believe that every student's learning ability and style is unique, and a good mentor should be able to find the style that works and use the most effective way to harness the student's learning potential. No matter how difficult a subject matter might be, the student can learn it if the right approach and style is used, and if the student's level of interest, motivation and self-confidence is raised to an appropriate degree. This is the teaching style and philosophy I use with my students. When I teach, I bring my combined knowledge of the fundamentals (textbook knowledge), alternate methods of analyzing and understanding the subject matter (creativity and innovation), and actual real-life applications(work experiences)together to benefit my student. I utilize all these to explain the subject matter and raise the student's level of interest and understanding. This makes the student more excited and motivated, and starts to make him/her get better. My academic background consistes of a BS degree in Industrial Engineering (cum laude), a consistent A+ average in the different areas of Math (including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus), a major in Accounting, and special trainings in the areas of designing and conducting trainings. I also have many years of real-life work experiences that complement and supplement my acadamic background. I have worked for many years in the Information Technology area, with expertise in financial, investment and business applications. My work includes giving trainings to my clients and colleagues. I have taught on both one-on-one and group sessions, to students ranging from elementary levels to professionals. Many of my students compliment me for the way I explain the materials to them, saying that it helps them understand the subject matter a lot better and clearer, and helps them appreciate it more because they see how it relates to other things they are familiar with. I have also done many one-on-one tutoring for technical and graduate students, and for elementary and high school students as well.
